See below for upcoming classes, trainings, and workshops available from the Children’s Advocacy Center. Classes and materials are free. Foster parents may earn education hours. Providers are always welcome to attend. 

Parent Cafes

Parent Cafes are physically and emotionally safe spaces where people talk and listen to each other on topics that matter to them, such as the challenges and victories of raising a family, navigating landscapes of inequality, enhancing well-being, and more.

STEP: Active parenting of Teens: Families in Action

Dinner & Child Care Offered!

In six 2-hour sessions, you will learn about Styles of Parenting, Mutual Respect, Owning the Problem, Active Communication, Encouragement, Logical Consequences, Problem Solving, Building Courage & Self-Esteem, Eliminating Power Struggles, Drugs, Sexuality, Violence and so much more! We offer dinner and child care!

STEP: Strengthening Families Program
Adapted for Parents & Caregivers Raising children with Trauma

Tuesdays from 9:30am-11:00am or 5:30pm-7:30pm.

This program is designed to support parents, improve family relationships, and reduce problem behaviors, delinquency and alcohol and drug abuse. There are MULTIPLE dates available and classes are offered both in-person and online.

STEP: Book Club. What Happened to You?
Conversations on Trauma, Resilience, and Healing 

Thursdays from 9:30am-11:30am.

Each session includes icebreakers, chapter reflections, trauma-informed parenting approaches, and how the five Protective Factors strengthen families. Video clips and small-group activities enhance main ideas from each chapter.

Ready For Life | for foster and adoptive youth ages 14-21

In this 3-part interactive workshop series, teens will build practical skills for health, independence, and adulthood. 

  • Session 1: Taking Charge of Your Health
    Saturday, October 3rd 1:00-2:30pm
    Learn how to navigate the healthcare system and become an advocate for your own health.

  • Session 2: Puberty, Relationships, + Sexual Health
    Saturday, November 14th 1:00-2:30pm (Girls only)
    Get real, age-appropriate information about puberty, healthy relationships, sexual health, hygiene, and more.

  • Session 3: Substance Use, Healthy Choices, and Refusal Skills
    Saturday, December 5th 1:00-2:30pm
    Learn about vaping, nicotine, cannabis, alcohol, peer pressure, and how substance use affects physical and mental health.

All sessions will take place in Catalyst at the Tucson Mall. Pre-registration is required.

Financial Assistance for Home Energy Bills

The Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) is a federally funded program that helps low income households pay their heating/cooling bills, minimize crises, and make energy costs more affordable. 

Power AZ is a state program that expands eligibility beyond LIHEAP income limits making this critical resource even more accessible to working families. Click HEREfor more information on both programs.
